My Top 5 Best Films Of 2019!!!

Here we go, another year down of some incredible films that all deserve credit in there own ways. How are we at the stage of the Best/Worst movies of the year already?.
This article will be a compilation of my Top 5 Best Movies Of 2019 and all my own opinions. It’s been incredibly difficult whittling down it down to just a Top 5 list but let’s get started at Number 5 shall we?.
RocketMan (2019)- Number 5

Coming in at Number 5 is RocketMan (2019) which tells the true life story about international superstar and gay icon Sir Elton John. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, the film is full of heart and fun, just like the main man himself, but also how his personal family life affect his career off and on stage. It doesn’t hold back trying to portray Elton as having a perfect career and that he’s never done drugs and is squeaky clean and is done in a sensitive and mature way. The mood and style of this film is what 2018‘s Bohemian Rhapsody should have been, true to the artists nature and made with heart.
I have a feeling this film will go down as a British classic and will be shown to younger generations to come on this true British and International superstar.
Wild Rose (2019)- Number 4

Coming in at Number 4 is Wild Rose (2019), the story of Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley) who wants to become a famous country artist and concur the world all from the surrounds of her home town of Glasgow.
Taking place in Glasgow, many were calling this film A Star Is Born: Glasgow Edition which to some extent it is just without the sad ending and the love story. If you love country music or Jessie Buckley then this film is for you. It filled me with pure joy from the moment it started and you know exactly what you are in for.
The film came out at the start of the year in the UK and it’s managed to stay in my Top 5 the whole year which is an amazing achievement as many people may have forgotten that it came out this year, which is your reminder to go watch it again or check it out if you haven’t seen it yet, trust me it will be one of the best decisions you’ll do to end this year on.Filling me with pure joy and laughter, it’s no wonder this film stuck with me the whole year and continues to be one of 2019‘s best films.
The Lighthouse (2019) - Number 3

Kicking off our Top 3 section is Robert Eggers black and white tale The Lighthouse (2019), telling the story of two lighthouse keepers who slowly go insane the longer they are on the island.
I was pleasantly surprised by how brilliantly made this film was and how it made me sit in awe by the end and made me wonder what the hell I had just witnessed. The use of a black and white colour scheme really worked in this films favour and added to its horror and sometimes tense scenes. I loved its main leads, William Defoe & Robert Patterson, who both put in outstanding work to bring the horror element out of this film and for William Defoe it may have possibly have been his best performance to date. There were moments I totally forgot I was watching Defoe and kept having to remind myself it was actually him. The score for this film was outstanding too and genuinely terrifying using the horn of the lighthouse to add that level of horror and suspense.
So we are down to the last two films of this Top 5 Best Films Of 2019 and I have to say it was incredibly difficult choosing between these two films. They both are brilliant in there own ways but it eventually came down to which one was more creatively made and crafted so here we go...
Marriage Story (2019)- Number 2

My Number 2 spot goes to Noah Baumbach’s heartbreaking and raw film on what it’s like to get divorced and how it affects family life in Marriage Story (2019). I am giving this film the number two spot because we’ve seen time and time again films on couples splitting up and divorcing but Noah Baumbach has crafted the most humanised and heartbreaking version of that genre, with its lead actors fronting the drama.
Marriage Story is a film that most people will relate to showing how each side of a divorce tries to play dirty and make things nasty for the other and how it affects children of said couple. The way Noah has crafted this film is exceptional and I can’t stress enough just how much it made me cry, I felt the pain from both parties and how it made me hate Charlie (Adam Driver) then made me hate Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) then by the end make me feel a whole lot of sorrow for them both.
Being made available on Netflix to watch the film is a must and if you haven’t caught it yet please do, it’s literally a click away on a TV Remote.
Parasite (2019)- Number 1

So here we are....
My Favourite/Best Movie of 2019 goes to Bong Jo Hoon’s incredibly clever and well crafted movie about a lower class family who want to improve there lives in Parasite (2019).
Now I cannot talk too much about this movie as it is a film that needs to be watched without any context but what I will say is that it’s about a lower class family whose son gets a job with a wealthy and well off family, that’s all I am saying.
This film WILL shock you, it WILL make you laugh and it most certainly WILL reduce you to tears, wether that be good or bad, but you WILL leave the cinema thinking about it and wanting to see it again.
The film doesn’t officially come out in the Uk till February 2020 in the United Kingdom but thanks to the Odeon I was fortunate and lucky enough to see it in its initial release year.
To Conclude...
Another year done and dusted and I want to take this time to personally thank everyone for following this page the past year and supporting me. I can’t thank you all enough and I am going to be upping the anti next year and making this even better for you amazing people. I want to also thank you for all being patience and letting me sort my mental health out and it’s still an on going battle that I won’t ever win but I do feel a lot better recently and at the top of my game.
I will be conducing a Worst Films Of 2019 List too so please keep an eye out on all my social media’s and as always let me know what you think of this Best Films Of 2019 List on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram.
