64th BFI London Film Festival 2020

Coverage With Movies With Morty.

It is with great pleasure that I have been accept as press for this years BFI London Film Festival which, for the first time ever, has gone fully digital online. For me this has been a goal of mine for just over a year now to be accepted as press and I am so excited to try bring you as many reviews as I can for each and everyone of you who takes time out of their day to acknowledge and read my reviews which I am super grateful for.

This years BFI London Film Festival, in partnership with American Express, is going bigger and better by offering its nominated movies nationwide, meaning anyone can access them from any part of the UK.

The festival officially kicks off on October 7th 2020, starting with Steve McQueen's Mangrove, which tells the true life story of the Mangrove restaurant , which doubled up as a community centre for many Black Londoners. With the ever growing police brutality and racial discrimination, Mangrove also became a site of resistance leading to the wrongful arrest for incitement to riot of nine local activists. Starring Letitia Wright, Shaun Parkes, Malachi Kirby, Rochenda Sandall and Jack Lowden to name but a few, Mangrove is sure to be a powerful and thought provoking movie.

Other major films include: Honeymood, Mogul Mowgli, Kajillonaire, Nomadland, Shirley, Herself, Supernova, Possessor, Soul and Ammonite.

The festival will come to a close on the 18th October with Francis Lee's Ammonite, which tells the story of 19th century palaeontologist Mary Anning, played by Kate Winslet, who falls in love with Saoirse Ronan's gentlewoman who stays with her at her beloved Lyme Regis. The film is woven through with an unusually subtle take on class difference in small town 19th-century Britain and its subversion within the exclusive company of women.

I cannot wait to be able to bring you all the updates and reviews that come out of BFI London Film Festival 2020 and I hope that you all enjoy it as much I as will.

This year has been really weird for many of us and cinema hasn't been the same with many major blockbusters being pushed back to 2021, meaning that cinemas are very dry and need all the help they can get to survive this odd year. Luckily some of the films at BFI LFF are being shown around the country in many cinemas that are in dire need of money.

For more information and to book tickets for any of the films head to: https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/lff/Online/default.asp.

I hope you all enjoy yourselves if you are attending BFI London Film Festival digitally and for those who can't attend be sure to keep an eye out on all my social media channels for full coverage on this years 64th BFI London Film Festival.
