The only grudge I have is seeing this film!!!

The Grudge (2020) is a remake of a remake about a house that becomes haunted by a Japanese myth called The Grudge, who never lets you go once you enter the house she haunts.
Written by Takashi Shimizu, Jeff Buhler and Nicolas Pesce, who also directs this film too. I can’t even begin to describe how awful this film was, let’s dive in to why this film isn’t worth your time or money....

The Film....
This is going to be a rather difficult movie to review because of how bad it was but let’s give this a go.
From the moment this film began I had a strong feeling it wasn’t going to be any good. I was about 20 minutes into the film and I was still waiting for the story to kick into action but to my prevail the story didn’t play out during the whole movie, which is never a good thing. I picked out what they were trying to do with the story but the way it’s been edited made it incredibly difficult to do just this, I was actually in shock just how badly made this movie had been produced.
Lets talk about the editing since I mentioned it just now, it’s the most choppy editing I’ve ever witnessed in a horror film. Jumping from present day to past incidents of how the Grudge has claimed her past victims, it all gets a bit confusing and just laughable to be completely honest. I feel the story should have been editing starting from past incidents and leading upto the present day, it would have made the story a tad more bearable and maybe have made the scares a bit better.
Talking of which the scares in this film are genuinely the funniest thing I’ve seen so far this year, not once did I jump out of my chair and instead sat and laughed at how awfully executed they were. There was one part about mid point through the film which, if edited properly, would have actually made for a decent jump out of your seat moment. I honestly thought Cats (2019) was scarier than this and that’s saying something I never thought I’d say.

The Cast....
I’m keeping this section short and sweet because no one performance stood out for me, the acting felt like an BA level acting class that had just got there first acting gig, it was THAT bad.
There was moments in the acting in which characters would say something and the way they would say it came across quite comical, example being when people are saying “Mrs Matheson”, it reminded me like the “Heil Hitler” joker in JoJo Rabbit (2020).

To Conclude....
The Grudge (2020) is a strong contender for the Worst Film of 2020 already and we aren’t even a month into this year. With its inconsistent editing and diabolical scares and acting, it’s no wonder why this film is such a massive flop.
