Golden Globes Winner Tally
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood: 3
1917: 2
Joker: 2
Rocketman: 2
A rather mixed bag with Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood winning massive and Todd Phillip’s Joker being massively snubbed.
Something to notice as well is how Netflix got totally snubbed too, having both Marriage Story and The Irishman currently on there streaming services and not one of them films won at all in any of the catagory’s.
The biggest and happiest surprise for me however was Taron Egerton winning his lead role in A Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy portraying Sir Elton John in RocktMan, if you go to my previous article you‘ll have seen I had said I’d love for Taron to win so I wish I’d have just be braver to actually predict he was going to win the award, but a massive congratulations to Taron.
With 1917 releasing this Friday in the UK, it’s sure to be a very worthy contender for the Oscars in February and may even sweep it going off the Golden Globe wins it’s achieved.
Now it shouldn’t come as a shock to me but it really has is how Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has swept the Golden Globes this year. Quentin as we all know is a veteran when it comes to filmmaking now so it really shouldn’t come as a shock that he won so many, yet it is comparing to the other films he was pitted against, especially 1917 and Joker.
So a very mixed Golden Globes will prove to divide people this year and the race for who will win big at the Oscars is on, Quentin Tarantino and Sam Mendes are massive contenders but Todd Phillips could still be within a shot of that prestigious Oscar.
