The 72nd British Academy Film Award Nominations have been offically unveiled today by actor Will Poulter and actress Hayley Squires. Dominating the nominations this year is Yorgos Lanthimos's film The Favourite, which is up for a whopping 12 BAFTA's.

Personally I'm made up that The Favourite is up for so many BAFTA's and I'm hoping that this will lead it to get a fair few Oscar nominations. The film isn't your typical period drama and combining stunning cinematography with the use of a fish eye lens and the phenomal performaces by the three powerhouse trio of Coleman, Stone and Weisz, it's certainly a must see for anyone. Olivia Coleman is once again up for Leading Actress for her portrayl as Queen Anne, whilst Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz both competing for Supporting Actress. I'd love Emma Stone to win Supporting Actress as I feel her characters (Abigal Hill) development was amazing and the story felt it focused on her more than Rachel Weisz character (Sarah Churchill). The Favourite is also nominated for: Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Make Up & Hair and Editing.

Bohemian Rhapsody, Roma, A Star Is Born and First Man are all up for seven nominations each with First Man finally picking up some award nomination traction. First Man is so deserving of more award nominations as it simply a masterclass in cinema with some world-renound directing by Oscar winner Damien Chazelle. What Chazelle has acheived with First Man is (excuse the pun) out of this world and deserves to win in the catagorys its been placed in. I had the privilege of seeing First Man for the third and final time in the cinema this week and an experience I will always remember, especially the awe-inspiring lunar landing sequence, accompanied by Golden Globe winner Justin Herwitz's score.

Bohemian Rhapsody is up for: Outstanding British Film, Cinematography, Editing, Sound, Costume Design, and Make Up & Hair. It pains me to say this but feel it will win some of these awards including Hair & Makeup, Costume Design and the possiblity of Leading Actor for Rami Malek, who somehow managed to win it at the Golden Globes so theres every chance he could do it again, especially at the BAFTA's considering the film is about a British Band and a British Rock Legend.

Roma again has had a staggering amount of nominations so far this awards season and isn't stopping yet having been nominated for: Best Film, Film Not in the English Language, Director, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing.

Once again Alfonso Cuarón is up for Best Director for his stunning black and white beauty of a film and is on course to be Netflix's best ever year at the BAFTA's. I have a feeling we will be seeing Alfonso Cuarón win Best Director again at the BAFTA's after his win at the Golden Globes, snubbing Bradley Cooper once again for the award.

A Star Is Born is also up for seven nominations for: Leading Actor, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Original Music, Sound, Best Film and Leading Actress.

Having been massivley snubbed for the nominations it was up for at the Golden Globes, I'm praying that it does execptionally well at the BAFTA's as it really is master-piece of cinema. Lady Gaga is again up for Leading Actress but can Glenn Close (The Wife) beat Gaga again like she did at the Golden Globes?. Another note to add here is I'm hearing a lot of negativity towards Gaga for her nomination at the BAFTA's, something I personally don't understand, she was exceptional in the film considering it was her movie debut too.

Bradley Cooper is making history being the first male to be nominated for actor, composer, director, producer and writer. Can he win at least one of these awards?. Let's hope so as he is being totally snubbed for awards he is very deserving of.

Other films that have been nominated include Vice (six nominations) for: Leading Actor, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor, Original Screenplay, Editing and Make Up & Hair.

BlackKklansman is up five nominations for: Best Film, Original Music, Supporting Actor, Director and Adapted Screenplay. Green Book is nominated for four awards for: Leading Actor, Supporting Actor, Best Film and Original Screenplay. And finally Stan & Ollie is up for three nominations including: Outstanding British Film, Make Up & Hair and Best Actor.

Out of all these films I feel Green Book will once again do exceptionally well but equally I am hoping that Stan & Ollie do the same. Stan & Ollie is one of the best British Films ever made and oozes warmth and charisma right from the get go. It's a film thats been made to win awards at the BAFTA's and I'll be sorely disappointed if it doesn't win at least one of them awards. John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan are strikingly and unnervingly life like as the iconic comedy duo and it's a shame this film probably won't get anymore recgonition after the BAFTA's.

I want to quickly touch upon a few snubs at this years BAFTA's which means these actors and actresses probaly won't be getting any nominations at all this awards season.

First up is Toni Collette with her unreal and quite frankly award winning performace in the horror masterpeice that is Hereditary. The scene I'm talking about in particular includes her character sat at the dinner table with her son and her husband and gives what I can only describe as draw dropping and exquisite and is totally getting overlooked. Whilst we are on the subject of Hereditary, I feel the film needs more nominations too, its a true master of horror and I really wished Ari Aster got the recgonistion and was up for Best Director as he fully deserves to be up on that nomination table.

Another actress snub comes to Emily Blunt for her performance as Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns. Now I don't know about you but I was very shocked she wasn't considering she knocked it out of the park as Mary Poppins and for doing such an amazing and impressive English accent. I wasn't overly impressed with the film itself but I am dissapointed Blunt wasn't nominated.

Actor wise we have what I can only describe as cinemas most over-looked and most talented actors to date, Ryan Gosling. The performace Gosling delivers in Damien Chazelle's First Man is probably the best in his entire career and portrays Neil Armstrong exceptional well.

Another actor which is really upsetting seeing being snubbed once again is Ethan Hawke for his stellar performance in Paul Schraders 'First Reformed'. Ethan delivers a very human on screen achievement and genuinly career changing but for some reason the award boards are totally overlooking him.

Lastly why is Sam Elliot being totally snubbed for his work in A Star Is Born by playing Jackson Maine's brother. Sam should have had a fair few nominations by now and I was hoping that BAFTA would see this and award him at least the nomination but nope, they'd rather give that to Richard E. Grant and Mahershala Ali.

Finally the 2019 EE Rising Star Nominations include: Barry Keoghan, Cynthia Erivo, Jessie Buckly, Lakeith Stanfeild and Letita Wright.

Now I think I speak on behalf of everyone here adn I know that Letita Wright will hands down win this award for her performances in Black Pather & Avengers Infinity War. Me personally I would love it if Barry Keoghan or Lakeith Stanfield won this award and I feel both actors are brilliant in there respective films.

The 72nd British Academy Film Awards take place in the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 10th February at 7pm UK time and are being hosted by Joanna Lumley.
