Bong Joon Ho’s Korean Masterpiece!!!

Parasite (2019) tells the story of working class family’s...from the rich to the poor. The story follows how the Ki-Taek family take particular interest in the Park family for there wealth and liveliness until a shocking and unexpected incident happens.
Written and Directed By Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, Okja), the film could well be Bong’s masterpiece, with it’s exceptional pacing and well written out story.

The Film....
Before we start I’d like to say that this review may be shorter than previous reviews as Parasite (2019) begs to be seen on a big screen and to be seen as blindly as possible, seriously don’t watch any trailers. I managed to watch this early thanks to the last Odeon Screen Unseen of 2019 and what a way to end on. The film isn’t officially released in the United Kingdom until February 2020, so we have a bit of time to wait before it’s official release.
I genuinely cannot get over how amazing the film was. To put it into perspective imagine driving along at a reasonable and safe speed and the ride is calm and enjoyable until you hit a bump and the wheels of the car start playing up and eventually come off spoiling the ride and making you scared and worried about swerving off the road. Well this is exactly what Bong Joon Ho has crafted with this film.
I can’t go into too much detail as I don’t want any of this film ruined for anyone but I will talk about the production as a whole. The films 2hr 14min runtime absolutely flies by and you don’t even realise this because of how well written it is, it‘s pacing is incredible and Bong has dome something truly special. Even if you are new to the Korean film world or don’t really watch them you’ll be blown away with how refreshing and brilliant this film is.
The cinematography was on point, majority of the film taking place in the Park’s stunningly architectural designed home. The massive glass window in the house had some truly amazing shots when mixed with rain and lightning and opened up a completely new element to the home.
Each scene has been crafted to pursue a new emotion in your body from laughter, which is very well delivered, to complete shock and even making the palms of your hands sweat.

The Cast....
The Ki-Taek family, who are lower class, are composed of the father, Kim Ki-Taek, Played By Song Kang-Ho (Snowpiercer, Memories Of Murder), the mother, Chung-Sook, Played by Chang Hyae-Jin (Poetry, The World Of Us), the daughter, Ki-Jung, Played By Park So-Dam (The Throne, Veteran) and finally the son, Ki- Woo, Played By Choi Woo-Shik (Okja, Train To Busan).
Then we have the Park family, who are classed as wealthy and happy, are composed of the father, Park Dong- Ik, Played By Lee Sun-Kyun ( A Hard Day, Night And Day), the mother, Yeon-Kyo, Played By Cho Yeo-Jeong (The Target, The Concubine), the daughter, Da-Hye, Played By Jung JI-So ( The Tiger, Daughter) and finally the son, Da-Song, Played By Jung Hyeon-Jun.
The person who stood out for me however was Park So-Dam, she brought status and leadership to her role and the way she bosses the rich family around was brilliant, she really didn’t take any messing around from them and made sure she always had her way and you felt that through So-Dam’s performance.

To Conclude....
Parasite (2019) makes you feel calm and collected until one massive event rocks the entire film and things just go from bad to worse within the space of a few minutes. Never before have we had a film like Parasite (2019) and never will we get a film like this again that’s done so exquisitely. Please watch this film as blindly as possible and don’t let anyone ruin a single moment. You certainly won’t regret it.
