My Thoughts & Early Predictions....

I’m going to start off with the most obvious winner/s being Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor and Joker (2019) winning Best Drama.

Now personally I would love Marriage Story (2019) to win more than it’s probably going too, being overlooked by Joker (2019). Adam Driver for me deserves Best Actor as he was sensational in Marriage Story (2019).

A surprise nomination for me was Christian Bale in Ford Vs Ferrari (2019), I honestly thought Matt Damon was going to snag that nomination for Best Actor.

Now there are a few films that have been nominated that haven’t been released in the United Kingdom just yet such as Sam Mendes, 1917, Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite and also Marielle Heller’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood.

Something I do want to address is the lack of female nominations this year. There has been many films this year that’s either been directed by a or wrote by a woman such as Greta Gerwig’s Little Women (2019). I feel the amount of controversy the award shows have caused the past few years, you’d think they’d be nominating more female creatives, especially in 2019.

To Conclude....

The 77th Golden Globe Awards 2020 Nominations are a mixed bag with streaming services such as Netflix domainating with Netflix Original’s such as Marriage Story (2019) and The Irishman (2019). The lack of female creatives brings the nominations down a tad but hopefully they learn from this and nominate more women in 2021.

The 77th Golden Globe Awards will air on 5th January 2020 at 8:00pm EST/5:00pm PST. The show will be once again hosted by Ricky Gervais and will be held in The Beverley Hilton in Beverley Hill’s, California.

Keep an eye out for my predictions coming soon.
